Jailhouse Swing takes place Memorial Day weekend and hosts our Jack & Jailbird competition, themed after Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock, as well as a Jail & Bail, where participants can buy warrants to have their friends thrown in jail for a song.
Date: Saturday, May 28
Time: 7 pm-11pm
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church
28000 New Market Road,
Farmington Hills, MI 48334
During Saturday's dance there'll be a Jail and Bail Fundraiser. For Just $1, you can throw a friend in jail for a song.
The benefits from the Jail and Bail fundraiser at Jailhouse swing will go to benefit a girl named Mila Sorlie and her family.
Mila is an eight year old girl who loves to do crafts. Recently, Mila has had to go through treatments for brain cancer. She has been handling it like a rockstar, but it has been rough for her and her family, so they could use all the help they can get. So please help us send them support.
This fundraiser is a great fun way for us to help them out as Mila is going through the last part of her chemo treatments.
For the contest, each lead and follow will be paired together randomly for each song. (You will have a new partner for each song)
The contest will consist of 2-6 songs depending on the number of entrants
There will be up to 3 rounds depending on the number of entrants with eliminations after each round. i.e. assuming 15 leads and follows, the first round will be 3 songs (each with a different partner), then the second round will have 7 leads and follows for two songs, and the final round will have 3 leads and follows for two songs.
Couples must dance East Coast, Modern, Charleston, and/or Lindy Hop.
Lifts and Aerials are not permitted for the Jack and Jill competition.
Contestants will be judged individually with leads and follows judged separately.
